About:
The Southern Pearl is a high-end luxury apartment complex constructed in downtown Austin, Texas. Consisting of six stories, residents have a choice between one and two-bedroom layouts as well as three penthouses. As an adult-only facility, it fosters luxury, peace, and serenity to separate home from hectic work life. The large lobby serves as the hub of the building with designated lounge areas allowing residents to interact with each other and guests. With a wellness focus, one of the main luxuries provided is a wellness center consisting of a state-of-the-art fitness room, yoga studio, and spa. Each floor has a community room, a meditation room, and multiple productivity rooms. Outdoor spaces include a ground-level pool deck with private cabanas, a barbeque area, and a rooftop terrace.

The city is known as the Live Music Capitol of the World. Downtown Austin is always bustling no matter the day of the week. There are ample opportunities to try a variety of food and drink, shop for unique vintage items, and become immersed in the beloved history of the city. Just outside the city, the atmosphere relaxes with rolling hills, fresh rivers, vineyards, and scenic hiking trails.

The design concept of The Southern Pearl enhances the feelings of luxury and comfort through the combination of rustic and modern materials. To connect to the environment of Austin, Texas, the design incorporates warm earthy materials, colorful mosaics, and fun art pieces. A variety of integrated intimate spaces allows residents to find serenity and feel at home within the large building.
Goals:
Functional
1. The fitness room, yoga studio, and spa will all be connected to each other as a wellness center.

2. The communal areas will have access to “public” restrooms at all times.

3. The trash room, mail/package pick up, leasing office, and storage areas will be easily accessible but out of sight from the general lobby area.

4. Each residential floor will have a community room and a conference room.
5. Each unit will have a designated laundry room.
Aesthetic
1. The overall aesthetic will be relaxing, luxurious, and serene.

2. The complex will feel warm and comforting, like a home.
3. The materials and decor will reflect the surrounding natural environment and the culture of Austin, Texas.
